The New Zealand Courts (Māori: Kōti o Aotearoa) is the system of courts and judiciary which is responsible for the interpretation and application of the law of Aotearoa-New Zealand. Formed in 1841 with the establishment of the first court in the colony, the system today comprises over 58 courts at varying levels, administered by a large judiciary.
