CΑ | Governor General's Foot Guards #5245373
Description
The 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹’𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 (𝗚𝗚𝗙𝗚) is Canada's senior infantry reserve regiment, based in Ottawa. It serves a dual role: it is the primary unit responsible for the ceremonial guard at Parliament Hill and Rideau Hall, known for its red tunics and bearskin hats. In addition, the regiment provides soldiers for both domestic operations, like disaster relief, and international missions. The Regiment conducts guard mounting, ceremonial escorts, and formal security at government institutions and national ceremonies, preserving traditional foot guard customs, historic drill practices, and ceremonial protocol influenced by British and Canadian military heritage. Members embody discipline, tradition, and national pride while serving in one of Canada’s most visible ceremonial roles.
