Renowned for its luxury and comfort, the line gained international respect, yet behind its success lay hidden truths and internal controversies that only surfaced after its decline. In 1940, following the German occupation of the Netherlands, DL was disbanded. Its fleet was scrapped for the war effort, and post-war restoration never came. —MrQurky
