The Dawn Guard of House Dayne is an elite guard of warriors who serve as the bulk force on the battlefield. Unlike regular knights, the Dawn Guard are the primary vanguard during battle and remain by the Lord at all times while guarding. Desertion of the Dawn Guard means execution, due to the breakage of a sacred oath. The Oath of the Dawn Guard: "As we fall, so are we reborn. As a relic of our ancient order, I pledge to keep unity within the dynasty, amid ruins and glory. I pledge to keep strength and trust within our hierarchy, and guard them with my life. I pledge to the sigil of hope, and guard my house with honor. I am the burning star of House Dayne. I pledge my life, from this day, until my end of days." The words of the The Dawn Guard (in addition to the house's standard words): "From Dawn, until Dusk"
