Earldom of Thomond In the early 1400s, Thomond, alongside Ormond and Desmond lay dormant, its fate ignored as the English Crown turned its gaze toward the wars of France and the intrigues of the Mediterranean. Ireland’s internal struggles were dismissed as petty and unworthy of attention. Yet in that neglect, the old seat did not die, it waited. Now, with the throne unclaimed, the Irish rise to rekindle their homeland. From Thomond emerges a new enlightenment, forging a united front to reclaim the island and shape a truly Irish Ireland.
