Description
The Antalon National Courts have their origin in English law, due to Antalon having been an English naval base until 1775, and a U.S. territory thereafter. It followed the developments of American law closely until the early 20th century, when it was sold to the Soviet Union. There, the judicial system of the islands was heavily influenced by the civil law system of the Soviet Union. Even now, in independent Antalon, the soviet influence is palpable, however Antalon stayed true to its legal traditions, which differs from the American one in several aspects. Nowadays, the Antalon People's Courts uphold the rule of law and justice, applying law equally in criminal, civil and other cases. The Antalon Supreme Court makes sure all laws are constitutional and applied fairly by the People's Court, and keeps a watchful eye on the other two branches of government.
