■▬▬▬ 3rd Infantry Regiment ■▬▬▬ Founded October 12th 2019 ■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■ The 3rd Infantry Regiment, also known as "The Old Guard," is a unit of the United States Army. It is one of the oldest active-duty infantry regiments in the U.S. Army, with a storied history back to its establishment in 1784. The regiment is based at Fort Myer, Virginia, which is located adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery and just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The 3rd Infantry Regiment is responsible for various ceremonial and official duties in the nation's capital, including providing military honors at funerals in Arlington National Cemetery, participating in presidential inauguration ceremonies, conducting military parades, and standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
