𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐫𝐯 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 NERV (German for "nerve") is a special organization that was put together to combat the "ANGELS" after the Second Impact and is responsible for the creation of the Evangelion units. Although NERV is under the control of a classified organization known to the public only as The Instrumentality Project, it is an independent organization in operations. The Instrumentality Committee is the source of NERV's funding, income, and equipment for its operations. NERV is led by a Supreme Commander under he/she is the Deputy Supreme Commander, falling under them are the Department Heads above all is the Chairman of the Instrumentality Committee, known to the public as the Director of Special Organization Nerv.
