Hallownest’s history In the beginning, there was a civilization deep below what was to become Hallownest. A civilization that made Soul Totems, which were able to hold SOUL, which is the substance that animates bugs' bodies. They are also suggested to have been related to the Void, a substance found at the bottom of the Abyss. Whether this civilization originated from the Void, or whether they merely made use of Void is not clear. It is unknown what ended up being this civilization's downfall, but their advancement is proven by arcane eggs, storage devices that can only be superficially deciphered by the bugs of today. Above the remains of this civilization now live the bugs of Hallownest. Though there were exceptions, most of these bugs were without individuality and minds of their own. They were likely connected to the hive mind of the Radiance. The Radiance was a higher being, a being which existed above all others. She created the Moth race, who in turn worshipped her.BY PUFFERX
