Description
The Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) is the sovereign wealth fund of the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Since it was established in 2006, Mumtalakat has actively sought investment opportunities locally, regionally and internationally. As of 2018, Mumtalakat held stakes in over 60 enterprises in 14 countries with its US$16.8 billion worth of assets. Mumtalakat invests in assets unrelated to either oil or gas across different sectors including education, aviation, healthcare, consumer and financial services, industrial manufacturing, real estate, tourism and logistics. Mumtalakat is run by the senior most royal member of the House of Al Khalifa Royal Family which by law is the reigning Sovereign of the Kingdom and is 100% entitled to all assets of Mumtalakat.
