Description

Formed from the 2nd and 4th Nassau Battalions, this unit was shipped off to Spain in 1808. Both battalions of this newly formed regiment would quickly distinguish itself in battle, with both battalions earning the honor of bearing the Goldene Tapferkeitsmedaille on its flagpole. In 1813, at the Battles of the Nive, the 2. Herzoglich Nassauisches Infanterie-Regiment would shift its allegiance, and ##### the floor to the ##### ########## ## ##### to the Netherlands, the regiment tragically lost the 2nd battalion, the transport vessel sinking in a surprise storm, but its regimental flag survived. Upon landing, what remained of the regiment immediately went into service, serving at the Siege of #### op Zoom.
