Description
Già dal XVI secolo alcuni pescatori costituirono, con le loro capanne, il primo nucleo abitato di Fiumicino, allocato nelle immediate vicinanze della Torre Niccolina o di Pio V; ma solo nel primo decennio del XIX secolo, lungo il canale (su quella che oggi è Via Torre Clementina), fu realizzato il vero e proprio borgo su progetto di Giuseppe Valadier (Borgo Valadier): da questa creazione architettonica si sviluppò poi la città di Fiumicino, che ancora oggi conserva l'aspetto tipico di una località di mare.
