Description

Dwikora (Short for Dwi Komando Rakyat / People's Dual Command) was a 1964 Indonesian presidential decree issued by President Sukarno to oppose the formation of Malaysia. It called on Indonesia to: Strengthen its own national defenses. Support anti-colonial movements in Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak, and Sabah to dismantle what Sukarno viewed as a British neo-colonial project. The directive launched the active military phase of the Indonesia–Malaysia Confrontation (Konfrontasi), leading to border skirmishes, cross-border incursions, and bombings until political changes in Indonesia ended the policy in 1966.
