𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Consistently made of American Volunteers with Irish heritage, the 8th Missouri Zouaves were well known for their Zouave style uniforms. Based on the european French style zouave uniform and as the “American Zouaves” fought bravely at many famous battles/campaigns. The 8th Missouri participated in the western theatre, supporting the assault and capture on Fort Donelson, Tennessee and as well as capturing Arkansas Post after frontally assaulting the breastworks of Fort Hindman. Taking place also in the second day of the Battle of Shiloh and at Chattanooga as well while at the Siege of Petersburg where eleven men were awarded the Medal of Honor. The majority of men after the 3 years of volunteer service returned to their homes while the remaining men of service formed 2 Companies for the Atlanta Campaign. Final veterans participated in the Carolinas Campaign and as well as the Grand Review of the Armies.
