Description
In 1967 in Vulcan Foundry Works D400 and 49 more class 50 were built for british rail by English Electric and nicknamed "Hoovers" and last until the 1990s when all british rail loco were withdrawn BUT five class 50 were to live and to the LAST british rail loco the all withdrawn from the mainline. The Glorious 5 class 50s 50008 Thurnderer,50007 Sir Edward Elgar,50015 Valiant,class 50033 Glorious and 50050 Fearless were part of a group in the last days of class 50 call "THE LAIRA GROUP but in 1996 the five 50 split up 15 and 08 went to the ELR up north 33 went to Tyseley also with 17 Royal oak 07 also went to ELR but then went to Midland Railway and 50 stayed on the mainline until 2001 when it went to tyseley and then went to the D400 fund at yeovil railway centre
