𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃 The Praetorian Guard was an elite unit of the Roman army, established by the first Roman emperor, Augustus, around 27 BC. Tasked with protecting the emperor and his family, the Guard quickly became one of the most powerful institutions in ancient Rome. Known for their distinctive status, the Praetorians were highly trained soldiers who enjoyed greater pay, privileges, and influence compared to regular legionaries.
