Description
Aragon is an autonomous community in Spain, originating from the historical kingdom of the same name. It encompasses the central stretch of the Ebro Valley, the central Pyrenees, and part of the Iberian System, located in the northern part of the country. It is defined in its statute of autonomy as a historical nationality. The Kingdom of Aragon, along with the Principality of Catalonia, the Kingdoms of Valencia and Mallorca, and other territories in France, Italy, and Greece, formed the historical Crown of Aragon for centuries. In 1982, the current autonomous community was established, comprising the provinces of Huesca, Teruel, and Zaragoza, and is divided into thirty-three comarcas (counties).
