Description
𝐈𝐈 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬, 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜 Formed in 1862 by order of President Lincoln, II Corps would be known for its long and continuous service in the Eastern Theater of the war as part of the Army of the Potomac. It saw action starting with the 1862 Peninsula Campaign and would remain in service until the Surrender at Appomattox in 1865. Its most famous action would be in 1863 at Gettysburg where the corps was engaged on the second and third day of the battle.
