Armee-Korps was entrusted with the defense of Brandenburg. Originating from a General Command established in 1814, it formally became the III. Armee-Korps later in April 1820, with its jurisdiction centered on Brandenburg as its primary recruitment and administrative district. In peacetime, the corps fell under the IV.
