Republic of Kairi. The Republic of Kairi, also called Lere, was founded on July 20, 1900. Our nation is built on unity and resilience. In the 18th century, African slaves, foreign workers, and native Aztec/Taino peoples came together as Kairians to resist brutal colonial rule from the Dutch, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and British. The British, intimidated by this unity, chose not to fight but instead allied with the Kairians. They supplied weapons in exchange for influence, helping the revolutionaries drive out rival colonial powers. After centuries of struggle, the Treaty of the Hummingbird (November 3, 1858) freed the Caribbean from colonial terror. For 42 years, Kairi maintained a pact with Britain, balancing autonomy with diplomacy. Finally, independence was achieved in 1900, and the Republic of Kairi was born a tribute to the unification of its people and their fight for freedom. Today, the hummingbird stands as our symbol of survival and strong will.
