Originally raised during the 7 years war in the mid 18th century, the regiment went on to fight in many major conflicts, such as the French and Indian War, The American Revolutionary War, The Napoleonic Wars, The Anglo-Egyptian War, The Second Boer War, The First World War and The Second World War.
