(HEIC) Princedom of Punjab #6033317
Description
𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 By the 19th century, the Indian sub-continent had been wracked by the steady decline of the ruling Mughal empire and the intrusion of European colonial powers. As the once-great Mughal lands slowly split away, what resulted was the appearance of numerous small kingdoms and principalities in the regions not gobbled up by European forces. One of these emerging principalities is the Punjabi Princedom, located in the Punjab region of India's northern areas. The Prince, one of the descendants of the last Mughal emperor, had managed to amass a significant following, however, his lands were in danger of the plundering warlords that now dominated the area surrounding. At this time the Honourable East India Company was in search of native allies, and thus proposed a treaty towards the prince for his cooperation with the company in return for company protection, which the prince eagerly accepted.
