𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘞𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 House Mormont of Bear Island is one of the most ferocious and honor-bound houses in Westeros. Their seat is at Bear Island, located in the Bay of Ice northwest of Winterfell. Their sigil is a black bear over a green wood and they pledge by the motto: "Here We Stand." The Mormont's are an old house with a proud and honorable reputation. According to Northern tales, a King in the North gave Bear Island to the Mormont's after winning the isle in a wrestling match from a driftwood king of the Ironborn. Skeptical scholars think it more likely the rival kings wrestled with dialect.
