Description

Special Forces Detachment (OMON) - the brainchild of "perestroika." Organized crime was actively developing in the USSR in the 1980s and the situation in the republics was heating up. In each department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there were quick response groups, their employees often formed the backbone of the riot police, based in almost any city in the Soviet Union with a population of more than 400,000 people. Riot police have always been the most criticized police structure. Riot police were engaged in ensuring law and order at mass events, dispersing unauthorized demonstrations and rallies in the Soviet Republics by the authorities.
