Description
Israel, officially known as the State of Israel, is located in Western Asia at the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea and is bordered by Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt. Set up in 1948 to be the democratic home for the Jewish people, it holds huge historical, cultural and religious meaning since it contains lots of sacred places for Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It has its administrative and declared capital called Jerusalem, while Tel Aviv is its main economic and technological capital. Although it is small-sized geographically, Israel enjoys a diversity of natural landscapes that ranges from fertile coastal lowlands to dry desert and the Dead Sea while also having a developed economy due to technological development and medical success. But the history of Israel is associated with a complicated history of political and territorial disputes that involve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as regional security issues.
