𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬 The Volunteer Auxiliary Corps was established in 1835 under the authority of the Provisional Government of Texas as a means of organizing the large influx of volunteers arriving from the United States to support the Texian cause during the Texas Revolution. Rather than a single unit, it functioned as a broad administrative body through which independent companies were received into service, allowing them to retain their own officers and identities while operating under Texian command. Drawn from a wide range of states and backgrounds, these volunteers formed a significant portion of the Texian fighting force in the early stages of the conflict. Its existence illustrates the reliance of the revolutionary army on externally raised auxiliary forces prior to the establishment of a permanent and standardized military structure under the Republic of Texas. 1835-1846
