Welcome to «The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics» Information: The Soviet Union, officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was a federal socialist state in Northern Eurasia. Notably a union of multiple national Soviet republics, it was a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with Moscow as its capital. Initially a revolutionary socialist state formed by the Communist Party, with Lenin as its pivotal leader, the Russian SFSR (Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) played an very large role. Later, the USSR expanded into a multi-ethnic multinational Soviet federation, with Moscow retaining its central role as the political and economic hub, and the Russian SFSR as its largest republic, the RSFSR.
