Description
The Republic of Genoa was an independent state founded in 1005 in Liguria on the northwestern Italian coast, Known as "la Superba" ("the Superb one"), "la Dominante" ("The Dominant one"), "la Dominante dei mari" ("the Dominant of the Seas"), and "la Repubblica dei magnifici" ("the Republic of the Magnificents"), during the late Middle Ages Genoa was one of the main commercial powers of the Mediterranean Sea, It was a celebrated maritime republic.
