Description
The 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 is the independent constitutional authority responsible for interpreting and applying the law, safeguarding judicial independence, and upholding the rule of law within Canada’s democratic system. It ensures legal accountability and the impartial administration of justice across all levels of government. The Judicial Branch administers justice through federally appointed courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court system, and provincial and territorial superior courts. It oversees judicial proceedings, constitutional interpretation, dispute resolution, and the enforcement of legal rights and freedoms. The Judicial Branch operates under the Constitution Act, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Judges Act, which collectively establish the framework for judicial authority, independence, and the separation of powers that underpins Canada’s system of governance.
