Description

*|The Duchy of Warsaw was established in 1807 as a semi-independent Polish state under the protection of Napoleon Bonaparte and the First French Empire, following the Treaties of Tilsit. Formed from territories taken during the partitions of Poland, it represented a revival of Polish nationhood after years of foreign domination. Though short-lived, the Duchy played a vital role in the Napoleonic Wars and became a powerful symbol of Polish identity, independence, and national hope before its dissolution in 1815 by the Congress of Vienna.
