Description
The regiment was raised as local militia at Enniskillen by Colonel Zachariah Tiffin as Zacharaiah Tiffin's Regiment of Foot in June 1689, to fight against James II in the Williamite War in Ireland. The 27th Regiment served in Egypt where fought in the Battle of Alexandria against the French in 1801. The 27th Inniskilling made no small name for itself in the numerous battles that took place during the Napoleonic wars and now the battle hardened regiment stands ready to serve King and Country once again.
