Description
Established by Hulagu Khan during the great Mongol conquests, the Ilkhanate rules over Persia and much of the Middle East. Under Ghazan Khan, the realm has undergone significant reforms, strengthening both administration and the economy, while the ruling elite has embraced Islam. Despite these successes, the Ilkhanate remains locked in a bitter struggle with the Mamluks for control of the Near East. The state is powerful, yet continued warfare and dynastic rivalries threaten to undo all that has been achieved.
