Description
After British ships first reached the shores of Hindustan, a new chapter in the history of the East was set in motion one guided by trade, diplomacy, and eventually, duty. What began as commercial enterprise soon evolved into a mission of imperial stewardship. Faced with internal strife, fragmented kingdoms, and waning local authority, the British Crown stepped forth to ensure stability and progress through the establishment of the Raj. Under the Union Jack, railways stretched across the plains, law was brought to the farthest provinces, and the ideals of governance, industry, and civilisation were introduced to a land rich in history. The British Raj rose not as a conqueror, but as a custodian of order and enlightenment in a time of great change.
