So, what have we been doing for almost 250,000 years? We huddled in the caves around the fires, afraid of things we didn't understand. It was more than an explanation of why the Sun rises: it was the secrets of huge birds with human heads and animated rocks. We called them "gods" and "demons" and began to pray to them for protection and salvation. Over time, there have been fewer of them and more of us. When fears sublied, the world began to become more understandable. But still, the inexplicable could not disappear forever, as if the Universe itself was demanding the absurd and impossible.
