Languages: English/ German Founder: @ZYVEX About: The Galactic Republic was a democratic union of states in the Star Wars universe that existed for over 25,000 years. It encompassed thousands of star systems and was governed by the Galactic Senate, located on the central planet Coruscant. Each member system sent representatives to the Senate to participate in political decision making. The head of the Republic was the Supreme Chancellor, who oversaw the government. The Jedi served as peacekeepers and supported the Republic during times of crisis. In its final years, the Republic became increasingly weakened by corruption and political conflict. Ultimately, it was undermined by the Sith Lord Palpatine and transformed into the authoritarian Galactic Empire.
