Description
During World War I, Bulgaria entered the conflict in October 1915, joining the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire) to reclaim territories lost in the Balkan Wars. Under Tsar Ferdinand I, the highly motivated Bulgarian Army launched successful campaigns in Serbia and Romania, and fiercely defended the Macedonian (Salonika) Front against Allied forces. Despite achieving major tactical victories—such as the famous defensive stands at the Battle of Doiran.
