National Law Enforcement & Fire Service Memorial Multi Agency Honor Guard Honor Courage Devotion to Duty The purpose of the Honor Guard is to serve as a symbolic protector of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The NLEFS Honor Guard shares a lot of the same traditions as the Sentinels of the Army's Third Infantry Regiment at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The twenty-one paces walked by our sentinels is the shared tradition of symbolizing the twenty-one gun salute. Our Sentinels come from a variety of different agencies, backgrounds, ethnicities and communities. Commanding Officer: Captain.
