Hudson County, FN #68992264
Description
Hudson County was founded in 1732 on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and is one of the oldest counties in the state of Franklin, it lies right next to the adjacent state of Deary and has developed from a small colonial settlement into a major coastal county famous for its historic towns, dense urban areas, forests, and busy waterfront. The economy of the county was originally based on fishing, shipbuilding, farming, and trade along the Chesapeake Bay, over the centuries Hudson extended inland and thus linked its historic waterfront communities with the growing cities and industrial centers. Now Hudson County has a diverse population and includes both dense urban neighborhoods, suburban areas, rural farmland, and protected woodlands. The coastline still serves as a major center for shipping, recreation, and tourism.
