Cats are being mauled by people. They need a little space, don't you think? Who CARES if their fur is soft. Just leave them alone! See these innocent kitties? They're thinking: "Oh no. He's coming. Is he going to invade our privacy again?" Purring is not a sign of affection, it's just their way of expressing ANY KIND OF EMOTION, INCLUDING PLEASURE, OR DISPLEASURE. Do you really want to get your germ-y hands all over their fur, which they groom on a daily basis? Do you have any idea how many things you touch that are infected with germs? Leave cats alone once in a while. Seriously, stop feeling them. DISCLAIMER: While all of this is not exactly false, this does NOT mean you should stop giving your pets attention. This group is a joke. Once in a while I will post something to prove the point of this group, but again, do NOT take it seriously. If you do, I'll do my best to shoot down your points, but otherwise enjoy being in the group.
