Description
The City Watch, known to the smallfolk as the Gold Cloaks, serves as the iron hand of law within the city’s walls. Tasked with keeping order among nobles, merchants, and thieves alike, its men patrol alleys, gates, and markets, collecting taxes, quelling riots, and hunting criminals. Loyalty is sworn not to the people, but to the crown, and corruption often festers beneath their gilded cloaks. In times of peace, the Watch is feared and resented; in times of chaos, it becomes a weapon—used by kings, Hands, or ambitious commanders to secure power. Whether guardians or oppressors depends not on the law, but on who commands them.
