Description
The Honda clan were descendents of the Fujiwara settled in Mikawa. They ruled over the stronghold of Okazaki-jo and served as first-class retainers to the Tokugawa Clan. Their most famous patriarch was Honda Tadakatsu, who served in all of Tokugawa Ieyasu's campaigns and was famous for the antlers on his helmet and his 'Dragonfly Cutter' spear. Many Honda were Pure Land Buddhists and some even fought on behalf of the Ikko-Ikki during the Battle of Azukizaka.
