Description
The Free Cities of Solvina, sometimes called the Principality of Solvina, is the southernmost populated region of Couraeis, bordered by Aradel to the northeast and the Marches to the south. Its northern boundary is marked by the Valentis River, while the volcanic Serra Valerra range encloses the region to the south, shielding it from the harsh conditions of the Idrassid beyond. The principality is divided into parishes, each governed by one of the six Maggiorae, dominant city-states which hold authority over surrounding settlements through Writs of Binding. While unified in law and mutual interest, the cities maintain a high degree of autonomy and distinct identity. At the head of this system is the Grand Doge, an elected figure responsible for maintaining balance between the cities and representing Solvina abroad.
