Borinquen #696515
Description
Borinquen was the former name of Puerto Rico in which was named by the Taino Natives, before the conquistadors colonized it in the early 1500s. It was named San Juan for a period of time, but eventually the national name switched with it's capital's name Puerto Rico, due to Puerto Rico being such a wealthy colonial trading post for the Imperial Spanish Empire. In 1898 the United States of America declared war on Spain for control over the Caribbeans, in which the US won, and took Puerto Rico in as an American commonwealth. No, Puerto Ricans are not Mexicans, nor are we immigrants. We don't need greencards to become American citizens, we've been American citizens for over a century.
