Description

Era: 1930s-40s The Republic of Peru is a South American country bordering Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil, and Chile. it was conquered by the Spanish in the 1500s and turned into a Spanish speaking nation. In the 1800s along with the other South American states during the Bolivarian revolutions would gain its independence. Since then it has both lost and gained territory and has been involved in numerous wars with neighboring countries. In the 1930s after a war with Colombia, a Military Junta was instated, the Junta banned many parties, particularly the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance or APRA. In 1936 however, a coalition of various Republican parties would overthrow the Junta, the foremost of them being APRA. Now Peru has become a Constitutional Republic, however the fragile coalition has broken and military elements remain, it will be a time of great tension and strife for Peru.
