Every element of this remarkable legion pulsates with a drive for expansion and excellence. Raised in 57 BCE, near Cisalpine Gaul, the Thirteenth was established as one of many legions to join Caesar's campaigns. Evidently, the legion would prove itself most invaluable, becoming known for their indomitable spirit and unyielding resolve on the march.
