Cascade Falls Police Department #721043469
Description
The Cascade Falls Police Department originated in 1803 as a small volunteer watch that patrolled the growing settlement along the river. As Cascade Falls expanded through the timber boom, the city formally established the CFPD in 1862, launching with just under 300 officers to serve its rapidly changing population. In 1881, the Territory of Rainshore attempted to centralize policing by forming the Rainshore Constabulary, creating overlapping authority and sparking frequent clashes with city officers. Following public outcry after the “Two Rivers Incident,” the Constabulary was disbanded and full control returned to the CFPD. During the late 19th century, the department faced recurring issues of corruption and excessive force, but reforms in the early 20th century gradually modernized its practices and accountability. Today, the Cascade Falls Police Department functions as the municipal law enforcement agency for the City of Cascade Falls, focused on public safety.
