Description
Diocese of Lucena - The Diocese of Lucena was established on March 28, 1950, by Pope Pius XII, separating from the Archdiocese of Lipa to cover the province of Quezon and Marinduque; it became a suffragan of Manila. Its first bishop, Alfredo Ma. Obviar, took office in 1951, and the diocese later lost Marinduque to the new Diocese of Boac (1977) and the eastern part of Quezon to the Diocese of Gumaca (1984). It's known for its vibrant history, including its first bishop being declared Venerable.
