Infanterie-Regiment Prinz Clemens #725647009
Description
The Regiment von Prinz Clemens was raised in 1704. It was initially recruited in the Saxe-Weissenfels area. From 1746-1813, the inhaber was Clemens Wenzeslaus August Hubertus Franz Xaver von Sachsen; taking his name, then passing to Friedrich Gottlob von Steindel. Recruitment would always happen in the offices of Heldburger Land, Querfurt, Bad Langensalza, Sachsenburg, Sangerhausen, Sittichenbach, Weissensee, and Wendelstein; the counties of Mansfeld, Stolberg-Stolberg, and Stolberg-Rossla; and the princely Schwarzburg offices of Kelbra, Heringen/Helme, and Ebeleben. Until 1810 the 1st battalion and 1 of the grenadier companies had their headquarters at Langensalze, 2 companies of the 2nd battalion in Lennstadt, another 2 companies of the 2nd battalion in Weissensee, and the other grenadier companies in Thamsbruck. Then in 1810 the 1st battalion moved to Leipzig, the 2nd battalion to Eilenburg, and the grenadiers to Wittenberg. The regiment was disbanded in 1813.
