The Royal Yorkshire Regiment is a distinguished infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 2006 through the amalgamation of three historic Yorkshire regiments: The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire, The Green Howards, and The Duke of Wellington's Regiment. In 2022, it was granted the "Royal" title by King Charles III, reflecting its esteemed heritage and continued service. The regiment consists of regular and reserve battalions and has seen active deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and peacekeeping missions around the world. With strong roots in Yorkshire, the regiment upholds rich traditions, including Minden Day and Waterloo Day, and is based out of Catterick and other locations in the region. Its regimental motto, "Fortune Favours the Brave," captures the spirit of courage and service that defines the Royal Yorkshire Regiment.
