𝟏𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐒 𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙞 𝙎𝙤𝙞𝙩 𝙌𝙪𝙞 𝙈𝙖𝙡 𝙔 𝙋𝙚𝙣𝙨. 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵. Raised in Bruges on 1656 by Charles II, these were the exile King's 400 most loyal supporters. As the most senior foot guard regiment, the 1st Foot Guards is the very embodiment of excellence. In the Peninsular War they fought honorably, at the great retreat to Corruna they returned to port with tattered clothes but marching in-formation with the band playing and colours flying. At Waterloo, the famed French Old Guard advanced on the Foot Guards position and were decimated, making the "invincible" Old Guard rout and subsequently the entirety of the French Army.
